Wii Love
The Nintendo Wii - It’s not only a clever concept. It has witty advertising, a console with a sleek modern design and it’s incredibly hard to obtain… all things women love.
I’ll admit it. I was intrigued by those hard to miss TV ads, where players travel around the country to challenge others to duels on the various Wii games, most of which are actually included with the console in the Wii Sports pack. Then I was fortunate enough to play a few games on a friend’s Wii.
After bowling the best game ever, over 200, and getting beaten up by my friend in boxing, I’d not only worked up a sweat, but I was hooked. Finally someone’s trying to make video games easy to use and truly interactive. Plus, you can order all your old favorite Nintendo games online.
Next came the overwhelming disappointment of walking into dozens of electronics stores only to be told that they didn’t have any Wii’s and didn’t know when they might get any. The frustration is building… and rumors abound that Nintendo won’t be able to manufacture enough stock to meet demand until after Christmas. Someone over there definitely underestimated this killer product and the power of a marketing campaign.
