Good with the Bad?

Rosie O’Donnell and MSNBC have reportedly been in talks to bring in the comedian turned actress turned talk show host into their 9 pm prime time slot. Recently, O’Donnell made countless headlines for a ‘feud’ with Donald Trump and several comments she made during her short stint as a co-host of the View.

With all of the negative publicity she received in the past year, is this move by MSNBC, who have just now begun to find their stride in the ratings war, wise for their brand image? Is hurting your reputation and giving fodder to your opposition worth the reward of a ratings spike? Or, is MSNBC acknowledging a shift to the political left on the heels of the highly successful program Countdown hosted by Keith Olbermann?

I see it working in either one of two ways, either MSNBC receives such a massive spike in ratings that all the negative press in the world couldn’t keep advertisers away, or it fails - badly…

If this deal moves forward, we’ll soon find out.

  1. You are crazy to put Rosie O’Donnell on the air. She is annoying, disgusting and has no credibility within society. Her disgusting role on the view goes to show the type of person she truly is!!

  2. Talks between O’Donnell and MSNBC have reportedly stalled. I’m not sure there is any chance she’ll take a new show now.

You’re absolutely right, it would be crazy to put her on the air, but sometimes it’s the crazies who attract the most attention.

  3. No more Rosie, Please!
