Just for Commercials
Firebrand is an online company that allows folks to watch commercials. Yep, commercials. The things that most new media and marketing companies say we are ignoring or skipping with our DVR. I’m not exactly sure what the business model is behind this. I’d be curious to see how the site evolves over time and tries to establish a value equation for the brands or users.
I do think their manifesto is interesting, "We submit, with rare exception, that they’re the best stuff on TV. In under a minute you get the best directors, the sickest special effects, the funniest writers - what’s not to love?" Some commercials are very creative and entertaining. There are others that should never have seen the light of day.
One value I do see is the easy tool available to clip and post to a blog. As someone who looks for brand content, I’ll be sure to skim the goods for ads to comment on.
