Not Your Dad’s Old Spice Anymore
Old Spice is at it again. They have another ad out to follow-up on their earlier spots that highlight Old Spice as a “manly mans” deodorant. We all know that sliding from second to home is impossible but it plays well into the tone they’ve set up with the other commercials. I had to chuckle at the never ending slide, the product snag and plug.
From a marketing standpoint, what I’d like to know is if this approach has sold more deodorant. As a brand with a rich history they have a lot of equity as a traditional men’s brand, is this new approach selling the product and grabbing a new audience or simply delaying the inevitable for my dad’s deodorant brand?
