Nine Inch Nails… Shades of Radiohead
Can what worked for Radiohead work for Nine Inch Nails? Don’t know, but the band is trying the same pricing model.
The group recently released its latest album, Ghost, online free of DRM restrictions and at pay-what-you-wish pricing, according to MediaPost blogger Wendy Davis. She says they are offering nine of the album’s 36 tracks for free. Fans can purchase all tracks for as little as $5 or as much as $300 for an autographed set (This has sold out). There’s also a $10 version and one for $75.

The official download requires email registration at the site to get a download link. You can also download the collection officially via BitTorrent.
The band is able to make this offer for the same reason Radiohead was; they are free of constraints by a label.
