With entertainment like Blowtorch, who needs TV?

Are you a bit let down now that the writers’ strike is over? I am. I figured when the Writers Guild of America West announced approval of the proposed contract in February, things would go back to normal. I might actually find 1 or 2 hours on TV. You’d think studios and sitcoms and everybody else would rush to get new content up. One of my favorite shows is Two and a Half Men and all I’m seeing are re-runs. Even the news is boring. I am really tired of the presidential election, complete with descriptions of blue dresses, fired up preachers and scandals that happened a decade or more ago. If I see one more reality show I’m going to pitch one myself. I’ve already thought of the theme—Club Reality. I figure you could just set up a camera at any popular bar in any metro area and get a whole lot of quirky footage and not just conversations between singles. People tell bartenders all kinds of secrets. A barstool is the best place for a confession.

Sometimes boredom has a silver lining. If we’re not in the mood to go out and nothing’s on TV and there’s no riveting book in sight, I wander around the Web. I bumped into Blowtorch Entertainment during one of my “webabouts” and I have to say, it’s pretty entertaining. Blowtorch got a lot of attention towards the end of the year—a $50 million investment, a top brand Hollywood producer (Paul Schiff) whose My Cousin Vinny is an American classic, and a vision for getting college students and young adults involved in a film experience that includes a social community, contests and a charge to create unique feature length and short form films.  In-house events are planned for theaters where users may communicate with producers while the films are playing. There’s already a lot of content on the website, and viewers’ comments are about as entertaining as the films. You could spend hours on the site. I asked myself a question last night. Who needs TV?

This short is a response to the question, ‘What’s your craziest night ever?’
