Microhoo Turning Into a Real Soap Opera
The Internet has been all abuzz about the proposed Microsoft-Yahoo merger. Or, is it the Yahoo-AOL merger? Or, the Yahoo-Google merger? Confusing, isn’t it. Oh, and, in the midst of all that, Yahoo strikes a deal with MLB.com.
More than one blogger/journalist has seen this for what it is, one big soap opera. Marketing expert Andy Beal calls it The Young and the Profitless. MediaPost writer Tim Daly borrows his title from another TV daytime melodrama and says it’s Like Sands Through the Hourglass.
Interestingly, discussion about this goes as far back as late 2006 (see here and here), so the plot has been thickening for quite some time.
Perhaps the best expose on the subject comes from Wallstrip, so we’ll let Julie Alexandria have the last word.
