Twitter is a micro-blogging platform that has grown exponentially over the past two years. Twitter allows a user to share information using 140 characters or less. As it grows and the user base increases, many brands are jumping on the bandwagon, some more effectively than others. An excellent example is the recent campaign surrounding the Mad Men television show on AMC. It started with avid fans creating twitter accounts, AMC asking them to knock it off and then changing their minds. It’s an interesting story that you can read over at the toad stool.
It’s not an ideal tool for all brands but if it’s used in the proper context, it can be an effective communication tool. For those familiar with Twitter, this is a fun spot on how some social media tools get super hot and can make or break you!
