One Response to “Made in China: Will Chocolates Ever Be the Same?”

  1. It seems that ‘all that glitters is not gold.’

“Controversial manufacturing practices:” nice euphemism. Just what does that mean? M-m-m, maybe low or no quality control, lack of oversight, callous treatment of whistle blowers perhaps? We can only guess.

North American companies have un-employed thousands of Canadian and American workers to lower their costs in far off places like China. The trade-off? Our health and safety. Does the WTO or GANT treaties enforce any rules governing quality assurance? Or, is it buyer beware.

In the coming months and years, primarily due to a low American dollar, might we see a transition back to North American of all those lost jobs - and stronger health and manufacturing standards?
