Making a Brand Out of Packaging
One of the better ways to establish brand identity is through packaging. Shapes and colors are one of the easiest things that a person associates brands with. There have been a lot of companies who have been successful using this, particularly Coca Cola which has carved a niche out of its bottle and familiar red and white design. Its wavy white line below its name is often overlooked but is really something that identifies the Coca Cola trademark.
While many are trying to focus on other areas such as taglines or monikers, it is best to come up with the basic packaging to which may find easy. Today, we see a lot of products that come out practically the same as others like bottles, cartons, tetra packs and boxes. If you look at it, nothing is really striking about them.
Good packaging can really make a product standout. It is not an overnight success. It needs the element of time as well to sink in. Just remember that when you want to establish a brand, locate a niche area that can help stir brand recall. Satisfy that need and rest assured you have passed phase one of the brand marketing journeys.
