Burger King Wallet — Hits Orlando

Being an avid reader of all things Advertising, it seems like the most clever and non-traditional marketing happens in the big cities. (Chicago, NYC, L.A., etc.) Never would I have ever imagined Burger King would hit Orlando, Florida, and finally…we too got some marketing love.

A friend of mine, working at a local Starbucks, picked up a wallet that was left on floor. Inside of it was not only “The Kings” license, but also $1 bill (which the Kings face stuck on it), fake receipt (for pinky rings… hilarious), gift cards for Burger King and a map of Orlando’s BK locations.

At first I thought to myself, “Why Orlando?”. But I guess it makes sense in a city that not only houses the “Worlds Largest McDonalds PlayPlace” but had over $31.1 billion in visitor spending in 2007.

So great to finally experience (sorta) a non-traditional, and well executed, grassroots effort. I might not go out and buy a whopper but I’m so ready to talk about this with anyone who will listen.

  2. My son too found a wallet, but his had a $100 bill, a $100 food coupon and a receipt for the King’s gold…well the gold is worth $5000..it’s not fake. So check with Burger King about the pinky ring! They told my son the King’s gold was real…not fake. Call them!

  10. GE Financial did this Promotion too. BACK in 2000. It won the promotion of the year from Promo magazine that year as well. I should know, I was the copywriter on it.

Ah well, everyone copies in advertising.
