Present the Mission and Vision Statements

For most companies, setting out and marketing is as simple as setting up appointments and offering services or products to anyone they deem qualified and interested. But while any marketing professional would be equipped with the usual marketing paraphernalia such as flyers, brochures and company profiles, make sure that you also know the company mission and vision by heart.

The company mission and vision is normally included in the company profile. But have you ever asked yourself if you actually know what it stands for? In theory yes, but internally and digestively, chances are you are missing a point or two.

Why…

How To Draft Potential Logos

When you are on the threshold of opening a new company, it will come to a point where you will need an identification card for your company. It is different from the usual IDs that we flash when we are asked for proof of identity. It is something that will forever be in the minds of your target market, assuming you effectively build your company in the manner that it becomes memorable to them.

The initial concept will always be the hard part. Things to consider would include:

1. Colors
2. Shapes
3. Fonts
4. Alignment
5. Font Sizes
6. Complexity

Ideally all of these would be on…

Thriller Can Make Michael Jackson Proud

Do you still remember Michael Jackson’s record breaking hit “Thriller”? Well it has been almost 20 years now and while you don’t really hear it everyday, once Halloween strikes, it is something that is ripe for the season.

Now that the time for monsters, witches and warlocks are here, don’t be surprised if some Halloween functions and parties would have presentations of this all-time hit by the controversial Michael Jackson.

It does bring back memories but most of all, it really fits in perfectly with the creep Halloween celebration that is going on in most parts of the world today.…

When Animals Become Brands

For every business or company, logos or symbols that can be easily associated with their line of business is a familiar practice. Some may call them awkward and weird but that would just be in the beginning. Later on, these animal symbols become the driving point to which most companies find themselves becoming familiar, especially if you want visualization through logos to be at the driver’s seat of your corporate vehicle.

Just check out these Unusual Animal Symbols reported via Mashable:

1. Bango
2. Fennec
3. Firefox
4. Myna
5. Songbird
6. Tern

Facebreaker Breaks Down

The initial ratings and reviews and given to the latest game unleashed by EA, Facebreaker, a freestyle boxing game that can be played on Xbox 360 and PS3 indicated what the game would really be, a flop.

Facebreaker had already been given a poor rating at Gamespot, a 3.5 out of 10 and while many wanted to find out for themselves, sales slumped as it was only able to sell 52,000 copies for Xbox 360 and PS3 combined.

The game concept is certainly something to reconsider. It seems though that while the graphics are great, the marketing aspect is obviously aimed at…

Michael Douglas Stars in Wall Street Sequel

Remember that old 1987 Wall Street where Michael Douglas played a tycoon that involved stocks? He was with Charlie Sheen in that movie and he actually won an Oscar for playing Gordon Gekko.

The sequel is titled “Money Never Sleeps” and is said to pick up where Gekko left off. Gekko re-entering the financial world after prison and finding it to be even more cutthroat than how he left it.

This film is timely as we are all aware that stocks are plunging and finances are harrowing. Douglas has been open to the role although he prefers to read the script first before agreeing. The…

Choose the Right Words for your Ads!

Seeing ads is one thing and while sensual and revealing scenes from commercials have been surely hit, categorizing them as inappropriate for a general audience, the same goes for the words you use. Sometimes, we see companies make use of words to carry the bulk of the ad and the level of exposure can go as far as children as well.

An ad that was shown “Zack and Miri Make a Porno”, a movie that stars Kevin Smith has been hit for using the offensive word “Porno”. While to some it may be harmless, the educational level and curious minds of…

Yaz fined for Misleading Ads

When you launch a product, is only normal for marketers to try and keep it as general as possible. However, when it comes to clinical or medical products, you better be on the lookout for people who may be monitoring you. That is just the case on what happened to Bayer Corp’s Yaz birth control pill where it claimed to be the total solution for women with post menstrual disorder.

The problem is that they generalized too much, not taking into account the various cases of PMS. Further, Yaz has not shown any proof that it is indeed catered to women…

Dissecting the Products through Marketing Warfare

The ads we see today are aimed more at hitting the competition at something striking. The notable elements being hit today cater more towards the ingredients and materials to which they were made, one of which is sure to create quite a stir.

Ordinarily, a consumer could care less and apparently some would not even care. But if you go public with it, expect an impact as far as brand reliability is concerned. You can just look at the celebrated “Soup Wars” between Campbell and General Mills. Campbell declared that its rival General Mills were made with MSG, but afterwards it…

Brand Icons: Kraft’s Wienermobile

Any brand worth its salt can produce a great promo or ad whose impression lasts a few years in the minds of its consumers. But a more telling example of greatness are the few brands that achieve an impression over several generations. That’s a brand worth not only its salt, but also its bologna.

In 1904, the entrepreneur-immigrant who was also a prescient marketer, Oscar F. Mayer, began branding his company’s meats to capitalize on their popularity. His was one of the first companies to volunteer for testing product purity in the US.

The first Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was created in 1936.…

Celebrate the Olympics with Condoms!

A Chinese condom manufacturer, Elasun, is celebrating the Olympics in a refined, elegant and classy way: with clever Olympic themed condom advertisements.

The ads show athletic stick men with condoms in place of various sports apparatuses such as basketball nets, bicycle wheels, archery targets and gymnastic rings, explains the Trendhunter article.  The most creative of the series of ads? The ribbed condom  used to symbolize the water surface in swimming.

Elasun’s slogan, translated into English, is “Sports make you health.”

In the closing of the Trendhunter article, the author says,  “The Telegraph (UK) reported that “Olympic villages are reputed to be hotbeds of…

The Muppets Return

The Muppets seem to be staging a comeback. In an effort to promote an upcoming Disney Channel special, several of our Muppet friends have set up their own YouTube channels. Beeker gets it going with a nice rendition of Ode to Joy. This is an interesting approach to revive the Muppet brand and bring back the variety show approach that brought the show success in the past.

Disney is once again putting their marketing force behind something and finding new ways to integrate the old and the new. The YouTube campaign is an interesting way to use a new medium to revive a brand that…

Batman is out to save Gotham again with the theatrical release of the Dark Night Movie. The marketing team behind the comic icon is making an aggressive push to promote the new movie, including a run of the previous Batman movies on cable stations such as TNT/TBS (Arnold as Mr. Freeze? Clooney as Batman? Come on.)

The brand known as Batman has an amazing following and the digital tools available today have created numerous opportunities for individuals to share their experiences and passion for the brand.

People can related to the brand because they have a desire to be a hero in some…

Brand .ME

GoDaddy.com is sharing that the launch of the .ME domain name was one of the most successful domain name launches in history with over over 20,000 .ME domain names registered the first day. Mashable reports that the launch was riddled with technical issues due to a rush of attempted registrations for names that might fetch a premium price down the road like Aweso.me

From a branding standpoint, I’m sure there are a handful of unique opportunities to identify, register and market with a .ME domain but is the world really in the mood for all of the useless .ME domain names that are…
